Quicktime VR Authoring Studio

If you’re lucky enough to have an Apple Mac, you have the option of using Apple Computer's QuickTime VR Authoring Studio. Unfortunately this is unavailable on the Windows platform as QTVR Authoring Studio is widely considered to produce the most accurate stitch of all the programs out there currently. As the ‘original’ program it is held as a standard for stitching panoramas.

On the surface a very simple interface hides a very flexible and complicated set of tools perfect for the professional looking to make manual adjustments. Stitching can be done completely automatically, but it recommended that you stop at every junction you can in order to make sure that everything is looking right. This gives you the chance to set things right at each stage – as the automatic process can take a LONG time to run through completely. It’s very annoying when you find that you don’t get the results you wanted!

Advantages:

  • Different degrees of blending
  • Compression type
  • Viewing Size
  • Excellent quality
  • Can create hotspots/virtual tours and Object VR

Disadvantages:

  • Single row panoramas only
  • Macintosh only
  • Expensive
